Myra Beebee is a new IMDI board member, and a 2nd generation dyer. She is the daughter of Dorothy Beebee, the illustrator for Miriam Rice’s mushroom dye books.
Myra’s childhood was filled with dye mushrooms. She often tagged along to mushroom fairs or long weekends in Mendocino while Dorothy and Miriam discussed all things mushroom related.
Her own interest in the dye process grew as she became an adult. She started dyeing with mushrooms and other natural dyes, with her Mom as her teacher, and eventually became her assistant in several dye workshops.
Eventually she began sharing her experiments through a blog and started a natural dye YouTube channel with her brother Martin. She strongly believes in educating the new generation of mushroom dyers on the history that began 50 years ago with Miriam Rice.
Myra knit this sweater using Alpaca dyed with Cortinarius mushroom.
